Batman Silver Age Comics

The Silver Age of comics began in 1956 when DC introduced Barry Allen as the new "Flash."  The lighter tone Batman had taken on in the time between the Golden and Silver Ages led to the stories of the late 1950s and early 1960s that often featured a lot of science-fiction elements and Batman was not significantly updated in the manner of other characters until May 1964 in Detective Comics #327, when Batman reverted to his detective roots, with most science-fiction elements absent from the series.
